Hollywood star Tom Cruise reportedly preferred to order a takeaway meal of his Indian favourite delicacies — chicken tikka, black lentils, aloo gobi, spinach and naan — than endure the standard ‘rubber omelette and bacon lumps’ served on his flight from UK.
However, this is not the first time that a Hollywood celeb has done that. Apparently, its hottest couple, Brangelina had once chosen to give a posh London restaurant a miss for a local curry house for a pre-BAFTA awards meal.
Latin sensation Shakira's going teary-eyed after biting into a chunky piece of lamb burra during her visit to India is a rare case as compared to the rising breed of Hollywood celebs swearing by the Indian food — actors Robert Pattinson, Pierce Brosnan, Julia Roberts, Madonna, Hilary Swank and even the late Michael Jackson.
Says Chef Kedar Bobde, executive Sous chef, “Hollywood stars prefer tikka as it is a healthier option and high on protein, whereas dal makhani and naan makes one feel heavy on consumption.”
Chef Prashant Tikadia seconds it saying, “Chicken tikka is popular for its smoky aroma and juicy in texture. Naan resembles freshly baked bread rolls, but it’s a softer and richer version. Dal makhni too is full of flavour and smooth in texture. What also works for these dishes is that they are not spicy and do not leave an after-taste.”
