The Doctor's sense of timing is improving. Matt Smith's "Doctor Who" holiday special will air on BBC America on Christmas Day at 9 p.m. ET. Smith recently dropped by Craig Ferguson's show to promote the special, which is Dickensian in theme, a la "A Christmas Carol," and centers on Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) as newlyweds, joined by "Harry Potter's" Michael Gambon. Former James Bond Pierce Brosnan is going back to his TV roots. He's an executive producer of and will appear in a Sony TV pilot about a fixer who helps people get out of difficult situations. Former "ER" writer-producer Jack Orman is writing the pilot and is also among the exec producers; Brosnan won't play the lead but will have an on-camera role. [The Live Feed]
"Battlestar Galactica's" Aaron Douglas, "The Princess Bride's" Wallace Shawn and "Kids in the Hall's" Dave Foley will join the previously announced Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day, Ming-Na and Stan Lee as guest stars for the second half of "Eureka's" fourth season. Shawn will play a relationship auditor, Douglas will play a leader of "Galaxy Camp" and Foley will drop in as a former weapons specialist turned eco-scientist for the finale. [Syfy]
Dan Rather will pen "Summing Up," a memoir of his journalism days. "Now I feel the time is right," he says. "Plus, with the changing climate -- and attitude -- about news and journalists, I feel I can give readers an honest perspective on the present, and, more important, on the future of news." Fox News Channel's Chris Wallace has signed a multi-year deal that will keep him as an anchor at the network for the upcoming presidential race. His statement: "I am delighted to know where I'm going to be sending my Sunday mornings for the next few years and to be part of an outstanding Fox News team covering the changing balance of power in Washington, the 2012 Presidential election and beyond." Molly Parker ("Deadwood," "Swingtown") has landed the lead in Lifetime's pilot "Meet Jane." She'll play a woman who's recruited to spy on her husband, who's suspected of selling government secrets. [Deadline]
