Californians can support kids, firefighters, veterans and a few other causes with specialty license plates.This week, motorists will get another choice: low-cost spay and neuter surgery for animals throughout the state.
The California Veterinary Medical Board is sponsoring the plate that comes with artwork from actor Pierce Brosnan.The plate will be unveiled on Tuesday. They can be pre-ordered online starting Wednesday.Medical board vice president Stephanie Ferguson says once there are 7,500 prepaid orders, the plates will be printed and distributed.The California Department of Public Health estimates 1 million pets enter public and private shelters in California every year, and over half of them are euthanized.
