Salvation Boulevard.

May 9, 2010
Cast and crew members of the movie tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release recently began filming scenes on a residential street in the south-central part of the township.Based on a novel by Larry Beinhart, the cast of Salvation Boulevard includes Pierce Brosnan, Marisa Tomei, Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Connelly and Ed Harris.Brosnan, who plays the charismatic pastor of a fundamentalist mega-church, is perhaps best known for playing super agent James Bond in four films in the Bond series. There was no action Friday afternoon on the movie set, which included several trucks, tents, lighting equipment and portable restrooms. Crew members and a caterer were at the site, however.Publicists for Salvation Boulevard could not be reached.Plymouth Township is putting in a new temporary street of sorts, Salvation Boulevard.Brosnan, on his website, describes the movie as the story of a former Grateful Dead fan-turned born-again Christian who finds himself on the run from members of his church, who will do anything to protect their larger-than life pastor (Brosnan). The website imbd.com (Internet Movie Database) describes it as a comedy thriller.Novelist Beinhart is also the author of American Hero, the 1994 novel upon which the movie Wag the Dog was based.Salvation Boulevard is the third major film production to shoot scenes in the Plymouth area in recent months. The cast and crew of the family drama Trust, directed by David Schwimmer (he played Ross on the television sitcom Friends), filmed scenes in Plymouth in November and December, and scenes for the comedy Cedar Rapids, starring John C. Reilly and Anne Heche, were shot at the Plymouth Roc (formerly Boulders) in December.
