ALLEN PARK –– Production work is under way at the Allen Park Studio Center on a feature film starring Pierce Brosnan, city officials said.“Allen Park is proud to confirm that ‘Salvation Boulevard’ has set up production offices at the Southfield Road location,” Mayor Gary Burtka said. “They have been on site for about a month and a half.”Along with Brosnan, the movie is starring Marisa Tomei, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Greg Kinnear and others.Shooting will take place in Michigan beginning in May.“Salvation Boulevard” is being produced by Mandalay Independent Pictures.The script is based on the book of the same name by Larry Beinhart. George Ratliff will direct from a screenplay he wrote with Douglas Stone.The film is about a former hippie, turned born-again-Christian, on the run from crazed members of his mega-church who are set on protecting their pastor.Preproduction began this month.“Salvation Boulevard” is listed on the Michigan Film Office’s Web site as a feature film in production.In November 2009, the city took control of the 104-acre Allen Park Studio Center property off Southfield Road just south of I-94 that is home to Unity Studios and the Lifton Institute for Media Skills.Under Michigan’s film incentives, productions must spend at least $50,000 to be eligible for a 40 percent refundable tax credit across the board on Michigan expenditures.
